Housing Strategy

To create a more balanced community, we're exploring ways to broaden the variety of housing needs and types, as well as exploring opportunities for the development of more affordable housing.

In addition, the City Council set a goal to keep Issaquah moving toward this vision.

To develop a Housing Strategy, we first needed to fully understand our community's needs.

We've reached out to community members, service providers, real estate professionals, seniors groups, small and large businesses, and the Issaquah School District to help identify housing issues within Issaquah.

The process to develop a Housing Strategy started in 2016 with a City Council presentation about Issaquah's existing housing stock and a forecast of what future housing stock could look like.

In addition to the City Council, we also worked with the Planning Policy, Human Services and Economic Vitality commissions to identify and prioritize solutions.

The final Housing Strategy was adopted in September 2017.

Council is anticipated to take final action regarding Central Issaquah/Inclusionary Zoning in April 2018.
