Saving Energy
Saving Energy & Reducing Carbon Emissions
One of the city’s highest environmental priorities is reducing our energy use and carbon footprint. Our goal is to reduce our overall carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050.

While that’s an aggressive goal, there is so much inefficiency in our buildings, infrastructure and transportation, that we believe there’s a road map to get there. View our energy and climate page.

From a financial standpoint, many energy-saving opportunities have a short payback period.

Puget Sound Energy
Puget Sound Energy has an extensive commercial energy conservation program – for both retrofits and new construction. Check it out to save significant dollars on your company’s operations.

Green Power Program
Puget Sound Energy also has a Green Power Program, where you can buy electricity generated in more environmentaly-friendly ways.

Other Programs
The city also has a dedicated green building program and resources for salmon-friendly commuting.
