The Young Artists and Authors Showcase (YAAS) is an annual art contest that encourages youth worldwide to express the mission of Sister Cities International through original artwork, literature, poetry, photography, and music. Sister Cities International aims to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation – one individual, one community at a time.
The annual theme is determined by Sister Cities International. When the contest is open, submittals are accepted from Issaquah area students, ages 13-18.
The Sister Cities Commission in partnership with the Arts Commission, evaluates artist submissions based on creativity, composition, and theme interpretation. Select nominees are celebrated locally and then advance to complete in the Sister Cities International's Showcase.
