Public Hearing - Land Use Amendment Municipal Code 18.06.130

Thursday, February 28

The Planning Policy Commission will hold a hearing at its regular meeting on Feb. 28 to take public testimony on the proposed Issaquah Municipal Code amendment for the Single-Family Suburban (SF-S) zoning district. The amendment includes IMC 18.06.130 Table of Permitted Land Uses for this zoning district which, as proposed, would include removing some specific land uses that are currently allowed. The two uses being considered for removal are:
1) the development of new duplexes; and,
2) the use of the City’s cluster housing provision as a way to allow new attached housing within this zone.
This amendment is consistent with the City’s desire to focus new housing development into the Urban Core of Central Issaquah.
These proposed amendments may change as a result of the public review process.

The SF-S zoning district is mainly located along some sections of Newport Way, including the Montreux neighborhood; on Squak Mountain, including The Woods and Forest Rim neighborhoods; and sections of South Front Street, including the Sycamore and Lewis Lane neighborhoods. If approved by the City Council, any existing duplexes or clustered housing would be allowed to remain in the SF-S zoning district as a legally non-conforming use, but no new attached housing could be built.

Comments may be provided at the hearing or submitted in advance to or the Development Services Department, PO Box 1307, Issaquah WA 98027. Input from the public will be documented in the project file and forwarded to the Planning Policy Commission for their consideration.
