Trout Unlimited’s Perch-a-Thon at Lake Sammamish

Saturday, November 9

Register today for Trout Unlimited’s Perch-a-Thon at Lake Sammamish and have fun while helping to remove invasive yellow perch from the lake.

The action begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 with final weigh in at 1 p.m. Derby headquarters will be at the boat launch at Lake Sammamish State Park. Registration ends Nov. 8.

Perch eat baby salmon, are fun to catch and delicious to eat. Come on out and help remove them from the lake. Endangered Kokanee salmon must survive numerous predators — like perch — to survive and become future spawners. Other predators include fish such as large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass,
black crappie, sunfish, catfish, and the occasional cutthroat.

After you register, ask your family and friends to pledge a cash amount for each perch you catch. Pledges can be made directly on the site.

There will be prizes for participants in the following categories: heaviest perch, most perch caught, most unique pledges, and most money raised. All net proceeds from the event will be donated to Project Healing Waters, an organization that takes local disabled veterans fishing every year.

It’s a win-win for everyone! Fish, help native salmon, support veterans, and win prizes!
