From art to games and more, Highlands Day offers fun for young and old.
The annual event will be 3-7 p.m. July 20, 2014, at Blakely Hall, 2550 N.E. Park Drive, and Village Green.
The free, family-friendly event will feature carnival games, rides, a DJ, and booths hosted by local businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Highlands Day celebrates the environmental arts with plein air painting, a human-sized bird nest, sidewalk chalk, art to admire and other hands-on art projects.
Come dressed as your favorite flora or fauna and join the Nature on Parade kicking off the festival.
Join a watermelon-eating contest at 4 p.m. and win a $300 gift certificate.
The City of Issaquah has issued a special event permit to the Highlands Council to host the event. Motorists should prepare for the closure of Northeast Park Drive between 25th Avenue Northeast and 30th Avenue Northeast from noon-9 p.m. July 20.
