Help keep our salmon coming home as a volunteer for Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (FISH).
The historic Issaquah Salmon Hatchery is the most-visited hatchery in Washington state. To educate visitors, FISH relies on a committed team of docents to provide tours and educate guests about the salmon spawning in Issaquah Creek.
FISH needs adult volunteers during the fall spawning season, from September to mid-November. Volunteers help with educational programs at the hatchery and in schools throughout the year.
FISH will host a training session for prospective volunteers Aug. 23, 2014. To sign up, complete the Volunteer Interest Form.
Training includes a hatchery tour; presentation about the salmon lifecycle; tips about how to interact with students, chaperones and other visitors; and a comprehensive training manual.
