[ARCHIVED] Food Drive: Join a Regional Effort to Fight Hunger

Our community is joining a regional effort to fight hunger — the Month of Concern Food Drive.

The effort kicks off Sept. 13, 2014, as local organizations collect food at supermarkets for the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. Volunteers will also collect food at supermarkets Sept. 20 and 27, and Oct. 11.

Shoppers can pick up a list of food bank needs from a volunteer, purchase items and then drop them off with the volunteer at the store.

For this effort, we’re joining the cities of Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond and Sammamish to support our area’s food banks.

Throughout the Eastside, food banks, emergency and hot meal programs are working with our cities, faith organizations, social service agencies, and hundreds of volunteers to stem the rising tide of hunger.
