[ARCHIVED] History Hike: Explore Issaquah's Mining Past

Coalmines once defined what is now downtown Issaquah.

Explore Issaquah’s past as a rough-and-tumble mining town on the Issaquah History Museums’ Olde Town Mine History Hike.

The hike is 10:30a.m.-12:30 p.m. March 28, 2015. It departs from the Issaquah Depot Museum, 78 First Ave. N.E. A ticket and advance registration is required for participants. Order tickets via Eventbrite.

Join hike leader Doug Bristol to explore the mining history that continues to shape our downtown. Get a new perspective on the Olde Town neighborhood through historic photos, maps and observations of the changing landscape.

The loop walk covers the recently redone area near the Issaquah Creek dam and Mine Hill areas before returning to the depot. Expect a moderate hike with some steep sections on well-developed gravel and paved trails.

The hike will be held rain or shine. Participants should bring water and snacks, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Please leave dogs at home.
