Join more than 300 people in your community who have already completed Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training! Registration is now open for the spring session.
CERT training is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family and your neighbors in the event of a disaster.
Professional emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, so citizens like you can make a difference by using your CERT training to protect and save lives. With training and practice, you will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people after a disaster, while helping prevent yourself from becoming a victim.
CERT courses include lectures, discussion and hands-on training. Highlights include:
• Disaster preparedness
• Fire safety and utility control
• Disaster medical operations
• Light search and rescue
• CERT organization
• Disaster psychology
• Terrorism
• Disaster simulation drill
The program includes an eight-week course with evening classes from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. This year, there are two courses held on either Wednesdays (starting March 13) or Thursdays (starting March 14).
A nominal fee of $35 applies, which covers course materials and a stocked CERT backpack.
