Drivers should prepare for changes along Second Avenue Southeast as the Issaquah School District starts construction on a new Issaquah Middle School campus.
Though the majority of construction will take place during the summer break, the contractor has begun the pre-construction work.
To keep the existing middle school open during construction, the new middle school will be built on the east side of the existing Clark Elementary School campus.
In preparation for construction, the upper parking lot at Issaquah High School has been closed. District staff members are working with students on alternative options and parking management strategies.
During construction, drivers should plan for additional time when traveling along Second Avenue and when entering and exiting the Clark Elementary and Issaquah High campuses.
Please help minimize traffic impacts by using alternate routes, if possible. Students are encouraged to walk, ride the bus, or carpool. Parking will be very limited.
Issaquah School District representatives will be on site to facilitate pedestrian safety, vehicle access, including parking adjustments Please note the Issaquah Police Department will be monitoring the area for traffic and parking violations.
