[ARCHIVED] - Identity Theft Phone Scam -

On Feb. 22, 2013, Issaquah Police received a report of an identity-theft phone scam in the area.

A citizen reported that they received a call from someone claiming to be a General Electric employee, who announced that the company merged with the ADT Alarm Company.

The supposed General Electric employee asked for the citizen’s information, and permission to come to their residence. The citizen challenged the caller’s request for their personal information and the line disconnected.

The Issaquah Police Department reminds citizens to be cautious in releasing personal information over the phone. Never give out personal information such as credit card numbers and expiration dates; bank account numbers; dates of birth; or social security numbers to unfamiliar companies or unknown persons, unless you initiate the call.

Questions may be directed to 425-837-3200.
