[ARCHIVED] Vehicle Hits Pedestrian in Newport Way Crosswalk

A 4-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle June 26, 2015, in a crosswalk at Newport Way Northwest and Northwest Oakcrest Drive.

The accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m., as the boy and his mother crossed westbound Newport Way. The boy was walking a few steps ahead of his mother, who was pushing his bike behind him.

He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 67-year-old Klahanie woman, immediately stopped and cooperated with Issaquah police during the investigation. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.

Newport Way was closed in both directions for several hours between Oakcrest Drive and State Route 900 while Issaquah police and the Washington State Patrol investigated the accident.

The investigation is ongoing. For additional information, contact the Issaquah Police Department’s on-duty sergeant at 425-837-3200.
