You’re invited as artEAST, Issaquah Highlands Council and the Pacific Northwest African American Quilters Association present "I Am” — a quilt exhibition and programs exploring the concept of self-identify.
The exhibition opens Sept. 12, 2015, at Blakely Hall, 2550 N.E. Park Drive.
The opening day events include quilting demonstrations, unveilings of the Issaquah Highlands Youth Ceramic Quilt and the Community Digital Quilt Project, and a lecture by noted author and artist Gwen on the African-American quilting tradition.
Following the afternoon activities, the event will feature curator opening remarks and artist talks, as well as complementary appetizers, libations and jazz.

The exhibition, curated by Maxwell-Williams and Janice King, is on display through Nov. 19.
"I Am" features a parallel exhibition — "We Are" — at the artEAST Art Center, 95 Front St. N. "We Are" opens Sept. 19.
