[ARCHIVED] - Learn How to Create Sustainable Landscapes -

Learn how to create a beautiful, environmentally-friendly yard as Savvy Gardener classes return to Issaquah, just in time for spring.

The series will feature a Sustainable Landscapes Seminar on March 20, 2013, at Swedish/Issaquah. The program is like three free classes in one!

Savvy Gardener classes are provided by the City of Issaquah, Cascade Water Alliance and the Saving Water Partnership.

The Sustainable Landscapes Seminar lineup includes local landscape professionals:

10-10:30 a.m. – Organic Landscaping Practices

Presenters: Liesl Zappler, Swedish Medical Center landscape coordinator; Will Bailey, Signature Landscape Services general manager

Learn how the pros design and manage a landscape that is aligned with nature. The discussion will include choosing the right plants for your landscape and the importance of careful planning.

10:30-11 a.m. – Efficient Watering for the Pacific Northwest

Presenter: Ladd Smith, In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes co-owner
Learn proper watering techniques so you can keep your plants healthy and beautiful without excessive watering.

11-11:30 a.m. – Where Kids and Pets Play Worry-Free

Presenter: Julia Singer, King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks environmental health educator

Learn how to minimize potential exposure risks and make safe choices for products and landscape services.
