[ARCHIVED] Salute to Service: Veterans Day Observances

Veterans Day

Salute veterans' sacrifices and service at our community's Veterans Day observances.

The community is invited to Nov. 11, 2015, events in Issaquah Highlands and the Issaquah Community Center.

Highlands Council and the Issaquah Highlands Community Association host a flag-raising ceremony and reception at Village Green Park and Blakely Hall, 2550 N.E. Park Drive, starting at 9:30 a.m.

The local Albert Larsen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3436 hosts a ceremony at the Issaquah Community Center, 301 Rainier Blvd. S., starting at 11 a.m.

VFW members will recognize organizations and individuals for supporting veterans and active-duty service members. The post will also present U.S. flags to be flown at City facilities.

Mayor Fred Butler, a veteran himself, will speak at the community center event. Liberty High School Junior ROTC members will present colors.

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
