[ARCHIVED] Waste Collection: Holiday and Weather Service Updates

The holiday season and potential for winter weather create changes for your garbage and recycling service.

For Recology Cleanscapes customers with a Thursday collection date, garbage and recycling will be picked up the day after Thanksgiving. And for Friday customers, garbage and recycling will be picked up Saturday.

No collection occurs on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's Day. If your collection day falls on or after one of those holidays, your collection will be one day later that week.

Winter storms could make it unsafe to collect your curbside containers. To find out about temporary service changes:

  • Visit your service provider's website — or — for service updates and information on temporary collection points
  • Check your voicemail for a message from Recology CleanScapes about service changes
  • Monitor local media for service updates

If your service schedule is disrupted, your containers will be collected when it is safe to do so, typically on your next collection day.

Recology CleanScapes crews place carts upright with the lids on after collection, but carts may topple on icy surfaces or with heavy winds.

Before taking a vacation, please notify Recology CleanScapes to suspend your service.

Lastly, please be aware of extra packaging and materials during the holiday season. If you cannot reduce or reuse, then please check to see what can be recycled.
