Just in time for Valentine's Day, celebrate sweets and sweeties at the Issaquah History Museums' Depot Playdate on Feb. 6, 2016.
Children of all ages are invited to the depot, 78 First Ave. N.E., for a hands-on exploration of February traditions of the past. Drop in between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for the free event; coffee or tea is provided.
Listen as volunteers and kids talk about important people in our lives, and how we show them they are important. One homesick soldier's request for cookies from mom will guide conversation about the powerful connections between food and love. Kids will look at reproductions of valentines and other notes between friends and family.
Kids will also be able to decorate valentine and/or a cookie to take home.
The series is funded by 4Culture. At each event, participants are invited to do a hands-on activity and to examine related items from the Issaquah History Museums' collection. Visitors can get a deeper sense of Issaquah's past while they have fun.
