[ARCHIVED] - Lake Sammamish Kokanee: Discover the 'Little Red Fish' -

You're invited to learn more about Lake Sammamish kokanee salmon — and efforts to preserve the native fish.

Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (FISH) will host the Lake Sammamish Kokanee Work Group on March 5, 2016, for a discussion about the lake’s iconic “little red fish” and the ongoing effort to restore the species from the brink of extinction.

The event is from 11 a.m.-noon at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery’s Watershed Science Center, 125 W. Sunset Way. The event is open to the public; donations are gratefully accepted.

The work group drives the collaborative effort to recover Lake Sammamish kokanee. In 2007, watershed residents, local jurisdictions — including the City of Issaquah — agencies and non-governmental organizations formed the group to identify the causes of kokanee decline and then develop and implement actions to address them.
