You’re invited as the Issaquah Schools Foundation and Issaquah PTSA Council present a documentary film about how educators turned around a failing school.
"Paper Tigers" follows a year in the life of an alternative high school — Walla Walla's Lincoln Alternative High School — that has radically changed its approach to disciplining its students, becoming a promising model for how to break the cycles of poverty, violence and disease that affect families.
Due to language and brief scenes of violence, the film may not be suitable for younger teens; parental discretion is advised.
The free event starts at 6:30 p.m. May 16, 2016 in the Black Box Theatre at Issaquah High School, 700 Second Ave. S.E.
The event also features a presentation about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), as well as a panel discussion by community experts.
