[ARCHIVED] - You're Invited: Meaningful Movies of Issaquah -

You're invited to learn more about reducing the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.

"A New State of Mind" — a documentary to raise awareness about mental health — examines the issues and encourages sufferers to seek help earlier rather than later in their illness.

The free screening is presented by Meaningful Movies of Issaquah and the City of Issaquah Office of Sustainability at 6:30 p.m. May 25, 2016, at Blakely Hall, 2550 N.E. Park Drive.

"A New State of Mind" features some well-known figures from politics and sports, as well as ordinary people from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

The film is narrated by actress Glenn Close, cofounder of the national anti-stigma campaign Bring Change 2 Mind, which aims to remove misconceptions about mental illness through public education.

Close became a mental health advocate after her sister was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and her nephew was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.
