Every summer, folks gather for free, old-fashioned fun. The festivities start at 11 a.m. July 4, 2016, in historic Olde Town Issaquah and continue until 2 p.m.
Down Home 4th of July Celebration
Bring your family for the Down Home 4th of July celebration!
The annual Kids 'n' Pets Parade starts at 11 a.m. at Rainier Boulevard North and Northwest Dogwood Street.
You can watch the colorful entries along Front Street or dress up your bike, scooter, wagon, dog, chicken, guinea pig or other family members and participate.
Pick up your parade application during business hours at the Visitors Information Center, 11 N.W. Gilman Blvd. Or reserve your space online. Same-day registration starts at 10 a.m. at the Holt Building, 425 Rainier Blvd. N.
After the parade, head to Veterans' Memorial Field for more fun with pony rides, bouncy houses, water balloons, and gunnysack and three-legged races! Win all kinds of fun, red, white and blue prizes.
Dig for prizes at the Hay Hunt, or enter your pet slug in the official Slug Speed Race and Beauty Pageant — amateurs only please. Organizers do not provide slugs; you need to bring your own.
Finish your day with the pie eating contest — fresh baked, of course.

Experience Issaquah's rich past at Heritage Day at the Issaquah Depot Museum. You’re invited to see antique logging machinery, join in some old-fashioned butter-making and more.
Heritage Day — an integral component of Issaquah's Down Home 4th of July celebration — is a popular free event that gives you a chance to experience our exciting past.
Immediately following the Kids 'n' Pets Parade, join the Issaquah History Museums at the historic depot, 78 First Ave. N.E., for a chance to step back in time and get your hands on history.
Make your own Native American crafts, cool down with sudsy water fun at a laundry station, and help work the pump car down the railroad tracks!
