The Issaquah City Council recently voted to remove truck route designations from several local streets.
Effective Nov. 6, 2016, large trucks traveling south from Interstate 90 to Issaquah-Hobart Road must now use a state highway — State Route 900.
Local truck deliveries are still allowed on all streets.
The City received numerous complaints about congestion, noise and air pollution connected to truck traffic along local streets in Olde Town.
Based on recent studies, up to 27 percent of the traffic volume on East Sunset Way and Front Street South was from large trucks.
The following streets were removed as truck routes:
- East Sunset Way
- West Sunset Way
- Northwest Maple Street
- Newport Way Northwest
- Newport Way Southwest
- Front Street South
Signs will be installed soon along these routes. More information is available in the City's agenda bill.
