[ARCHIVED] - Issaquah's Long-Term Plan Earns National Award -

Issaquah's long-term roadmap recently received national recognition from the American Planning Association (APA).

The roadmap, called the Issaquah Comprehensive Plan, earned Bronze recognition in the APA’s Comprehensive Plan Standards for Sustaining Places Recognition Program Pilot. Nationwide, only eight communities received recognition through the program.

The plan integrates sustainability as it guides decisions on where to add homes and jobs, how to improve our transportation system, and where to invest in parks, sidewalks, utilities and other infrastructure.

"Reviewers found that the plan featured a clear vision and goals and that plan monitoring and updates were addressed well," according to the APA.

Throughout 2014 and 2015, we worked with our community to create a more streamlined and user-friendly plan.

Under state law, every city and county is required to periodically update its comprehensive plan and development regulations.
