[ARCHIVED] - Issaquah to Host Regional Transportation Summit -

Focusing on transportation issues both north and south of Interstate 90 — from Eastgate to North Bend — Issaquah Mayor Fred Butler recently invited state, county, city and agency leaders to a Regional Transportation Summit on Nov. 22, 2016, in Issaquah.

"My hope is that we develop a better understanding of regional transportation impacts on our communities," Butler said. "I'm thrilled that the response — from both local and regional leaders — has been so positive. We're looking forward to a productive conversation."

Initial goals include sharing information about transportation issues; building coalitions; and identifying next steps that could make a difference.

Along with King County Executive Dow Constantine, the following mayors plan to participate: Bellevue, Covington, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, North Bend, Renton, Sammamish and Snoqualmie.

Representatives from regional agencies, including state legislators; Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT); King County councilmembers; King County Metro; Sound Transit; and the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) also plan to attend, and participate in the dialogue.

The public is welcome to attend the summit, which will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1800 N.W. Gilman Blvd., Issaquah.
