King County recently agreed to remove 188 acres (see map) on East Cougar Mountain from Issaquah's potential annexation area (PAA), which means the land use and zoning will change from urban to rural.
The City requested removing 776 acres from its PAA, as the area is not suitable for urban development or served by public infrastructure.
According to the county, discussions on the remaining 588 acres in the PAA will continue at a future date.
