[ARCHIVED] Police Arrest Man for Residential Burglary

Police arrested a 31-year-old Kirkland man after a residential burglary late Dec. 27, 2016.

Officers responded to a home near State Route 900 and Northwest James Bush Road at about 11:30 p.m., after the homeowner heard a noise and found a man inside the residence.

The homeowner confronted the suspect with a shotgun, and as the homeowner and suspect struggled over the weapon, it discharged. The suspect then fled on foot.

With assistance from a Redmond Police Department K9, officers searched for the suspect, who was then located by the police dog and taken into custody. He was booked into the King County Jail for first-degree burglary and third-degree malicious mischief.

The homeowner received minor injuries during the confrontation. The suspect was checked by medical personnel at the scene.

Thanks to the Redmond Police Department, Bellevue Police Department and King County Sheriff's Office for their assistance.
