Seattle Theatre Group offers free dance classes for individuals with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers in Issaquah and other communities throughout our region.
Each eight-week series of Dance for PD classes uses dance, live music and community to develop artistry and grace while addressing such Parkinson's-specific concerns as balance, flexibility, coordination, isolation and gait.
Working with professional dancers and teaching artists trained in the Dance for PD method, participants are inspired to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable and stimulating.
Whether seated or standing, people with Parkinson's disease, caregivers and friends will enjoy this creative and welcoming environment, with live music. No dance experience necessary.
The local class is offered 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the Issaquah Conference Center - Flex Room at Swedish Hospital Issaquah, 751 N.E. Blakely Drive. To learn more, go to stgpresents.org.
Seattle Theatre Group’s Dance for Parkinson's program is offered in collaboration with Northwest Parkinson's Foundation, Des Moines Legacy Foundation, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Swedish Hospital Issaquah, Center for Healthy Living and Spectrum Dance Theater.
The classes are based on Dance for PD, a program developed by Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group.
