The City of Issaquah’s Hearing Examiner will
hear testimony on a variance application associated with the Windward development’s (formerly called Bergsma) preliminary plat at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in Council Chambers, 135 E. Sunset Way.
A
variance is required because a new road from Newport Way Northwest to the proposed subdivision would cut through steep slopes and critical areas. In addition to the variance, the City is reviewing Windward’s application for a Development Agreement to cluster the development, and the preliminary plat, both of which will also go through a public hearing process later in 2017.
Issaquah has been reviewing the plat for some time. The proposal is to build approximately 78 single family homes, located at 1763 Newport Way N.W. (just north of Talus).
Windward is not included in the City’s current building moratorium, which allowed projects with complete permit applications to move forward.
Comments will be accepted at the public hearing, but they should be limited to compliance with the variance criteria for this application.
