[ARCHIVED] Join Us: artEAST Courses at the Senior Center

Explore your creative side as artEAST offers courses at the Issaquah Senior Center, 75 N.E. Creek Way.

Prior to the first class, please register at the Senior Center front desk. Fee for each class is $45, plus a $5 supply fee. Each course requires a minimum of eight participants.

Colored Pencil Art

  • 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, starting April 4, 2017
  • Remember the joy that a new box of colored pencils filled you with as a child? Come experience the same thrill while learning additional techniques to use this versatile, portable and easily accessible medium. No drawing experience or expertise necessary. Continuing students will build on what they have already learned.

Still Life Art

  • 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursdays, starting April 6
  • This four-week course is designed to improve the basic drawing skills and theories required to render a vibrant still life composition. Participants will examine the genre of still-life painting by studying works of historical artists and creating their own examples of still-life. The lessons focus both on technique, direct observation of the object and the specific abstract ideas the choice and composition of objects can convey. Techniques such as color theory, active/static composition, positive and negative space, and the rule of thirds will be discussed and practiced to create the illusion of three-dimensional space and convey visual moods.
