On Bike to Work Day 2013, bike commuters made a pit stop celebrate fun, fitness and friendship with the City of Issaquah and Cascade Bicycle Club.
Throughout the morning of May 16, 2013, 88 bike commuters stopped at a Bike to Work Day station along Northwest Sammamish Road for snacks, tune-ups and info. Watch our video recap to experience the event.
In addition to City Office of Sustainability staff members, representatives from Getting Around Issaquah Together, Cycle the WAVE and Issaquah Highlands Council volunteered at the station and offered tips to bike commuters. Pacific Bicycle provided mechanical support for riders.
Bike to Work Day included commuter stations throughout the region where riders could check in and receive information about bicycle commuting, grab snacks and make minor tune-ups to their bikes.
The best way to celebrate Bike Month is to get on a bike: ride to work, ride to the grocery store or just ride for the sheer joy of being outside to soak up the spring weather.
More bicyclists mean less traffic, safer streets, healthier people, cleaner air and more livable communities.
