[ARCHIVED] Learn More: Olde Town Traffic Calming Pilot Program

Learn More: Olde Town Traffic Calming Pilot Program

Residents have two opportunities to learn more about a temporary traffic calming pilot program in Olde Town.

First is at the Council Infrastructure Committee meeting on Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 135 E. Sunset Way.

Residents can expect to hear staff’s plan to install temporary speed humps along Alder, Andrews and Bush streets.  Implementation is anticipated to take place in mid-January. The pilot program is expected to last approximately 10 weeks with various opportunities for resident feedback throughout the duration.

Discussions at the upcoming Dec. 21 meeting will include whether or not to conduct a study to cover the turn restriction signs currently in place while the temporary speed humps are implemented—in an effort to see how driver behavior is affected.

A second opportunity to learn about the program will be a neighborhood “walk-a-bout” on Jan. 6th at 10 a.m.  Residents can meet staff at the Issaquah Trails House, 110 SE Bush Street, for coffee then a walking tour will begin at 10:15 a.m.

Staff will walk Alder, Andrews and Bush streets with neighbors, answer questions and have the locations of the temporary speed humps marked with flags.

History

In early 2017, the City Council allocated $100,000 for traffic calming measures in Olde Town.

Staff has gathered resident feedback through surveys and also at a neighborhood meeting earlier in August about preferred traffic calming measures and potential locations.
