Posted on: April 17, 2018[ARCHIVED] Prescription Drug Take-Back: Safely Dispose of Medication
Saving unused or expired medication is a bad idea that can lead to improper and illegal use.
In surveys, the majority of prescription drug abusers report they get drugs from friends and family. Cleaning out old prescription drugs from your medicine cabinets, kitchen drawers and bedside tables reduces accidents, thefts, and the misuse and abuse of medications.
There is a safe and responsible way, however, to dispose of old and leftover medicine that protects your family and our environment.
Issaquah police, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, will participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 28, 2018, at City Hall, 130 E. Sunset Way.
Drop off the medication sealed in a clear zip-top plastic bag. Only pills or patches are accepted.
Please do not bring liquids, vitamins or food products for disposal. Any personal information and the prescription number may be crossed out. Do not include needles or sharps of any kind in your medication drop-off.
In addition, Issaquah residents can drop off their unused or expired medications anytime from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) at the police department.
