Construction will start soon for Riva Townhomes at Newport Way Northwest and Northwest Oakcrest Drive. Crews will be onsite starting May 21.
In total, 36 townhomes will be built on 2.15 acres (the full site is 8.39 acres). Each home will have three floors with a garage. The development will also include open space; viewing areas and recreation features; as well as additional surface parking for guests.
During construction, trucks will enter the site from State Route 900, and leave via Lakemont/I-90 to SR 900. As trucks enter and leave the site, flaggers will assist with directing intermittent lane closures on Newport Way Northwest.
The developer will also construct new left-hand turn lanes on Newport Way Northwest to the entrance of Riva Townhomes, as well as the Summerhill neighborhood via Northwest Oakcrest Drive. In addition, an approximately 120-foot temporary rock wall will be built on the southwest side of the road – along the Summerhill neighborhood – to accommodate the new street-frontage improvements.
The new wall will require some trees to be removed near Summerhill. The wall and the tree removal will take place within the City’s right-of-way. This wall may be temporary, as it doesn’t reflect the City’s corridor concept for Newport Way Northwest. The City is in the process of advancing the corridor concept to final design (learn more at
issaquahwa.gov/corridorconcept). Once the design is finalized – and funding is secured for the construction phase – the temporary wall will likely be removed to accommodate the City’s new sidewalk and path.
