Five Acres Added to State Park

More than five acres was recently added to Lake Sammamish State Park, thanks to a land donation by Issaquah-based Lakeside Industries.

The land, which is located east of the park, includes nearly 1,200 linear feet along the eastern bank of Issaquah Creek. Almost all the creek – from East Lake Sammamish Parkway to the lake – is public land.

In addition, an existing trail on the donated land will connect with the park’s trails to create a 2.5-mile loop around the southern portion of the park.

Starting next spring, the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust will start restoration efforts along this section of the creek as part of a larger effort that will include volunteers, AmeriCorps members and other partners, who will remove weeds and plant native trees and shrubs.
