The City is considering amendments to its Land Use Code that would no longer allow the following development in areas zoned SF-S:
- New duplexes; and
- The use of the City’s cluster housing provision to allow new, attached housing.
If approved by the City Council, any existing duplexes or clustered housing would be allowed to remain as a legally non-conforming use, but no new attached housing could be built.
This proposal is consistent with the City’s goal to focus new housing development into the urban core of Central Issaquah, instead of suburban areas.

Prior to consideration by the City Council, the City’s Planning Policy commission (PPC) will hold a Public Hearing to consider this proposed change. The PPC will take public testimony on the proposed amendments at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28, 2019 at the City Council Chambers, City Hall South, 135 E. Sunset Way.
Comments may also be submitted in writing to the Development Services Department, P.O. Box 1307, Issaquah, WA, 98027; or via email at ChristenL@issaquahwa.gov.
Following the PPC public hearing, a tentative schedule includes:
- Council Land and Shore Committee review on March 4
- City Council action on March 18.
