Issaquah is a member of
A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH), which is a partnership of King County and Eastside cities that have joined together to assist with preserving and increasing the supply of housing for low– and moderate-income households in the region.
ARCH is aware of policy violations at some of the home ownership properties it administers. ARCH staff and the Executive Board is taking action to review those claims; conduct a full audit of all properties; and develop potential changes to its program policies and procedures. Issaquah, like many Puget Sound cities, is currently feeling the pressure of a rapidly-growing region, as housing affordability becomes more challenging.
Our City has a strong commitment to diversifying our affordable housing options for our community. Several recent initiatives, include:
- The development of a citywide housing strategy.
- The addition of inclusionary zoning in the Central Issaquah Plan – a strategy that requires a percentage of new housing to be constructed and made available to individuals and families with incomes below the county average.
- A proposed mixed-use, transit-oriented development (TOD) project called “Trailhead” on State Route 900.
