[ARCHIVED] City Launches Administrator Recruitment, Survey

As the City of Issaquah searches for its next City Administrator, we want your feedback! Take our survey by June 12.

Under the direction of the Mayor, the City Administrator is responsible for the administration of city government through effective management of human, financial and material resources.

Their work is performed, and priorities are determined, according to the policy directives of the Mayor and City Council. The City Administrator directs, administers and coordinates the activities and functions of the various City offices, departments, commissions and boards in implementing the requirements of City ordinances and the policies of the City Council.

City Administrator Emily Moon recently announced that she is leaving the City of Issaquah in August 2019 to pursue a long-held dream to travel extensively with her young family.

“There’s no tragic story here about an ending – but instead one of opportunity and new beginnings,” Moon said. “While I wish the timing was different – there are so many good things happening in Issaquah that I want to be part of – I am ready to fulfill a promise made to my family years ago, and to learn and grow through this next adventure.”

Moon joined the City in 2014 as its Deputy City Administrator. She was named Interim City Administrator in January 2018, and hired as Administrator in September 2018.

“I am very grateful to Emily for her service to our community and for the leadership she has provided for our city staff team," Mayor Mary Lou Pauly said. “While I’m sad to say goodbye to such a talented public servant, I’m thrilled for Emily to embark on this amazing adventure with her family.”

Mayor Pauly, who serves as the City’s chief administrative officer, is leading the nationwide recruitment effort for Issaquah’s next City Administrator.

“I’m thankful Emily gave us such extensive notice, which will help ensure a successful transition for our organization,” Pauly said.

Once applicants are screened, the community will have an opportunity to meet finalists during an open house in early summer.
