[ARCHIVED] Council to Discuss Transportation Funding Options

The City Council will be discussing funding options for Issaquah’s unfunded transportation capital priorities during its May 13 Council Committee Work Session

Back in March, staff provided the City Council with an overview of a potential plan to fund seven transportation projects on the unfunded transportation capital needs list, leveraging a combination of existing debt service capacity and a 0.2 percent voter-approved increase in the sales tax rate, as allowed under the Transportation Benefit District (TBD).

The plan presented to the council was based on recommendations from the Ad Hoc Long-Term Finance Committee.

During that March meeting, the council requested more details on sales tax forecasts; descriptions of the seven unfunded transportation capital projects and timing; and options for the timing of a public engagement process and potential ballot measure.

The May 13 meeting will cover these topics, and staff will be seeking direction from the council on next steps. Learn more in this memo, and the meeting agenda.
