Issaquah’s Development Commission recently approved a Site Development Permit application related to the proposed middle school in Talus.
The commission started its public hearing for the proposed middle school on Jan. 15 and concluded it Feb. 10. Some of the topics discussed included:
- Bus circulation
- Field lighting
- Noise
- Parking
- Traffic circulation
- Trash enclosures
- Treatment of walls
Public comment was accepted in writing and throughout the public hearing.
The land-use permit approval allows for a new middle school campus with approximately 144,822 square feet of academic and school administration space in a six-story building.
The site will also include a new lighted athletic field, a new public trail, a two-level parking garage and a small surface parking lot.
The school district will now apply for construction permits, and construction could start sometime this spring. Work on a previously-approved water main relocation may start sooner onsite.
