[ARCHIVED] Put Your Best Foot Forward: Become a Walking Ambassador

We're working to create a safer network, so you can get around Issaquah without a car.

Our partner, Feet First, will hold training sessions for its Neighborhood Walking Ambassador program in Issaquah from 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 10, 2013. Ambassadors will have the chance to lead neighbors and friends on fun, community-focused walks around Issaquah in the coming months.

Register for the training online or by calling 206-652-2310, ext. 5.

Feet First has been working with us to improve the City’s walkability.

“The City is interested in highlighting walking as part of creating a healthy place to live, and encouraging people who are excited about that mission to become Walking Ambassadors for Issaquah,” said David Fujimoto, Office of Sustainability director.

Neighborhood Walking Ambassadors will play a key role in inspiring a shift to foot-friendly development in Issaquah by sharing observations and recommendations, which will be directly communicated to City officials. The neighborhood walks help motivate people who live, work and play in Issaquah to walk more. Walks and training sessions are educational and fun social events.

“We imagine a different way of connecting with our surroundings, taking steps towards improving personal and environmental health, all while sharing knowledge,” said Lisa Quinn, Feet First executive director.
