[ARCHIVED] South Cove: WSDOT I-90 Project Update

Starting June 8, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) work crews began work within City limits on their Auxiliary Lane and Sound-Wall Project along Interstate-90. Crews recently removed trees within WSDOT’s right of way in preparation for sound wall shaft drilling which will begin this week along both eastbound and westbound I-90. During the next few months, residences located adjacent to I-90 along NW Sammamish Road/West Lake Sammamish Parkway may experience noise impacts due to construction efforts, though these should be limited primarily to day-time hours.

Construction work will last for approximately six months within the City limits. Most work will occur along I-90, and will not impact City Streets with the following exceptions:

  1. Work will occur along NW Sammamish Road for 90 days, requiring a closure of the eastbound lane and detour. This work is scheduled to begin in the middle of July and take approximately 3 months to complete.
  2. Work will require periodic overnight freeway ramp closures, requiring detours along City streets for those entering/exiting the freeway. No ramp closures will occur during daytime hours.

To learn more about this project and to see further upcoming construction elements, please visit the project webpage. Questions related to this project can be emailed to Matt Ellis, Senior Engineer. More information will be posted to the website when it becomes available.
