Good news: The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) plans to reopen both directions of Northwest Sammamish Road by end of day Oct. 26, 2020.
Work will continue onsite, and crews will keep the eastbound shoulder closed. Drivers can expect flaggers to periodically direct one-way alternating traffic at times this winter.
Starting in the summer of 2020, crews closed all eastbound traffic on Northwest Sammamish Road – west of the State Park entrance to 193rd Place Southeast – for several months while adding auxiliary lanes on I-90 in Issaquah and building sound walls along the road.
This project will also make room for the City to potentially add new pedestrian/cyclist amenities in this area. Funding, however, is still needed, and likely years away.
