[ARCHIVED] Notice: Catalytic Converter Theft on the Rise

The Issaquah Police Department has documented a rise in catalytic converter thefts in the area.

You will not know if your catalytic converter was stolen by just looking at your car, but as soon as you start your engine you will hear a loud roaring or rumbling sound.

Here are a few tips to prevent your car’s catalytic converter from being stolen:

  • When possible, park in a secure and/or well-lit area that are close to business entrances.
  • Purchase a security device that attaches the converter to your car making it more difficult to steal.
  • Engrave your VIN on the converter to alert scrap metal dealer that the converter is stolen, and they may be able to identify the owner.
