[ARCHIVED] Sustainability: How Does Issaquah Measure Up?

Our community is known for exceptional quality of life — from preserving our natural resources to supporting excellence in education to nurturing healthy businesses and community groups.

Discover how we measure up in our 2013 Sustainable City Report. It helps answer the question: How sustainable are we? To learn more, read our report and watch our presentation.

The latest report tracks our progress on 26 sustainability indicators. It also outlines how we can foster a more vibrant, healthy and livable community in the future.

The effort to measure our sustainability started in 2008, when Mayor Ava Frisinger assembled a panel of 16 community leaders to develop a long-term vision of sustainability, and recommend indicators, or metrics, to help track progress over time.

We then collected data to measure changes. That information is used to produce updates on our progress.

“Sustainability is defined by the dynamic relationship between our natural environment, our people and our economy,” Mayor Ava Frisinger said. “Our commitment to sustainability is vital to the excellent quality of life we enjoy in Issaquah.”
