[ARCHIVED] Earth Month Giveaways: Rain Barrels and Compost Bins

As the 51st anniversary of Earth Day is coming up, the City of Issaquah is inviting residents to sign up to receive a free compost bin, a rain barrel or both! The City received these items through a King County Waste Reduction and Recycling grant and hopes that they will help support residents’ environmental stewardship and water conservation efforts.

Compost bins can be used to turn food and yard scraps into fertile, nutritious soil to feed your garden. Rain barrels collect rainwater from your roof that can be used for your lawn or garden, helping you save water and money in the process.

The compost bin has an 80 gallon capacity and comes with instructions for use. The rain barrel has a 55 gallon capacity and will need to be positioned below a downspout.

The items will be distributed on April 14th and 24th at Pickering Barn, 1730 10th Ave NW, Issaquah, WA 98027.

If you’re interested in receiving one or both of these items, please complete this form by April 11. There is a limited quantity of items so they are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Masks will be required and social distancing will be arranged. Individuals are expected to load their own items into their vehicles unless special accommodations are requested in the form.
