With forecasted record temperatures of over 100 degrees, the City of Issaquah is opening a cooling center from 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday, June 28 at the Issaquah Senior Center. The King County Library System is also opening some regional locations to serve as cooling centers on Monday June 28. The Issaquah branch will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Additional days may be added as needed. Water and snacks will be available for our guests, along with some frozen treats.
Please spread the word to those who may need a cool place in the upcoming days.
Other cities and organizations have also set up cooling centers. Visit King County Emergency Management's website to view regional options.
Please stay safe and check on your neighbors, relatives and those vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
Pets
Given the extreme conditions, leashed dogs and crated cats are permitted at the Senior Center. However, pets must be under owner control at all times and any pet-related “accidents” must be cleaned up by the pet owner.
