[ARCHIVED] Issaquah Sees Increase in Shoplifting Activity

In the past week, the Issaquah Police Department (IPD) has received numerous reports of shoplifting at local businesses. The City of Issaquah and IPD are collaborating with businesses on efforts to deter and enforce more of those thefts. These efforts have resulted in several recent arrests for shoplifting.

Some steps IPD have suggested to local businesses to help reduce shoplifting include:

  • Sounding devices on carts preventing them from leaving the property
  • Adding removal deterrent elements to shopping cart designs that prevent them from leaving the store such as posts or flags
  • Staffing exits to check receipts at the door

Residents can report suspicious activity to police by calling our non-emergency line, 425-837-3200, option 3.
