[ARCHIVED] - Help Protect Our Iconic Fish as a Salmon Watcher -

It’s almost that time of year again — when salmon return home to spawn and continue their remarkable life cycle.

Volunteer as a Salmon Watcher, and learn about our local salmon, their habitat and what you can do to help them.

No experience is necessary to become a Salmon Watcher. Just attend one classroom training to learn:

• How to identify the salmon species you may see in our region
• What salmon look for in stream habitat• What you can do in your daily life to help the salmon

Then, if you would like to sign up to watch for salmon and collect data during the fall spawning season, we’ll get you set up.

Classes are scheduled from 7-9 p.m. on these dates:

• Aug. 28, 2013 — Renton City Hall, 1055 S. Grady Way, Room 726
• Sept. 11, 2013 — Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. N.E.• Sept. 12, 2013 — Woodinville City Hall, 17301 133rd Ave. N.E.
• Sept. 25, 2013 — Carkeek Environmental Learning Center, 950 N.W. Carkeek Park Road, Seattle

Learn more, and discover other ways to help our local salmon, at the Salmon Watcher website.
