[ARCHIVED] New Emergency Business License Ordinance

The Issaquah City Council adopted an emergency 90-day ordinance on Jan. 18 to update the City's code as it relates to the revocation of business licenses. These criteria were last updated in 2002. This new ordinance clarifies and adds the following reasons for which the City could revoke a business license:

  • when it is necessary to protect the public health, safety, peace or welfare
  • when a business has operated in a manner contrary to the public health, safety, peace, morals, or welfare
  • when a business has allowed, failed to prevent, or failed to report to law enforcement unlawful or criminal activity occurring at the business
  • when a business has failed to prevent or allowed the business to become an instrument of or a cover for public disorder, crime, unlawful activities, or other danger to public safety, peace, morals, or health

This ordinance goes into effect immediately. If you have any questions or input, please reach out to our Economic Development team.
